Getting Paid for doing Surveys

I like to fill out paid surveys so that I can earn a little extra cash fairly easily and have a little fun doing it. Some people claim that they earn hundreds of dollars a month doing online surveys and yes, that is possible, but mostly if you do surveys that require a cash investment of some sort. I choose to do the offers that are completely free only and so I am going to be publishing a series of articles on the survey sites that I do use and have actually worked for me. I have signed up for nearly 30 different paid survey sites and have used them over the last couple of months and I have discovered a few that work really well for me. For the first month worth of hard work and dedication, I have earned $50 and am very close on another $30 or so on a few other survey sites. So, about $100 in the first month and a half, which is not too bad for totally free money if you ask me.

Here is a little bit of a How-To Guide on paid surveys.

The first step is to sign up for survey sites, and sign up for several because you have to find out which ones pay out best for you and spend more time on those and then kick the ones that do not work for you to the curb. My best word of advice is to sign up for about two a day maximum. And then no more that four to six a week. The reason for this is to help prevent you from getting burned out too quick. Doing too many surveys for too many sites all at once can feel overwhelming and it can seem like you are achieving nothing and then all your time has been for nothing. Most survey sites give you a sign-up bonus too, which is a really nice way to begin.

Make sure to stay organized. I have a little notebook that I have written down all the survey sites that I have used along with my usernames and passwords. This way I cannot forget. I also have this list so that I can write notations as to how the site treats me and cross off the ones that I have decided to drop because  they do not help me achieve my goals.

The next step is pretty crucial to being successful. Dedication. You must fill out each survey, open up every mail, keep your profile updated, and check back regularly even several times a day, especially for the first month. This is because the survey company is testing you. They will send you low paying surveys, sometimes non-paying surveys to see how much time and dedication you will give them. That is another reason why I suggest only signing up for a few at a time so that you can give them the dedication you need to in the preliminary stage.

Once you have gained a great reputation with the site, that is when you will begin to see results. They will start sending you higher dollar amount surveys more often and you will begin to be able to cash out and see results for your dedicated time. You can also have a day or two off a week and not worry that they will stop sending you surveys. I take Sundays and Mondays off from doing surveys, just as I do with the blogging so that I can spend time with my family. Lately, I have also only been dedicating about two or three hours a day with doing surveys since I have been sleeping in, doing, house work, taking care of my daughter, and blogging.

Another nice thing about becoming a valued survey member is one of my favorites. I was just sent a sample of body lotion the other day from one of my survey sites that I am using daily in place of my usual lotion. I will use it for about ten days and then they will send me a survey asking my opinion, I will collect $3-$5 for doing it and I could be given a second sample to try and get paid the same amount AGAIN for the second sample.

I have also participated in a food diary for one week, a alcohol consumption diary for one month (which paid me about $3 since I only had a few entries), and am also currently participating in a monthly spending habits diary for a five dollar payment.

Surveys do take some time to do, but they are worth it, even if you only do them a couple times a week because you actually do get some money for doing them. Granted, at this rate I'll make $200 in two to three months worth of work (with three weeks off because I did not have internet access due to moving). If I did the offers that could cost a little money, then I could earn even more, but you have to make that decision yourself.

In the next few days, I will publish the sites that I have tried and seem to be legit, but that have not seemed very useful for me or did not seem to offers the best benefits. They could work for you, and that is why I am going to list them anyway. Over the next several weeks, I will post about one a day of the ones that I have used and enjoy using. I will post how long I have been using them, about how much time I dedicate to them each day and about how much I have earned from the site. Now do not forget that I have only been using them about two to three months. Two of the survey sites that I like best are actually advertised on this page and all the other pages on my blog, so there is a sneak peak for a later post.

Feel free to comment on survey sites you have tried that have or have not worked as well as money you have made from filling out surveys. I am sure all of us would be interested to hear and let us know how much time you have spent doing them.
